A Daily Question for more joy & fulfillment

Today I’d love to share with you a simple practice that can help to make your life more about the things that you love.

Well, not only for the many positive ripple effects of enjoying life more – but also because reconnecting with your heart’s desires is a potent creative force.

And there’s a short question that takes approximately 10-15 seconds a day to consider, yet it’s a powerful way to recalibrate our intention, focus and actions – aka our days and our lives – so that we can create the lives we really want to live, and be the people we really want to be.

It’s also extremely simple – literally, a toddler could do it.

(In fact, toddlers tend to be excellent at this!)

CAUTION: Though this practice is super simple, it’s not always easy, especially if you are a kind and generous soul.

You may need to listen to your Inner Rebel,  you might even find it calls for a degree of courage.

But I know you’re up to it. 🙂

Are you ready for the simple daily question that’s going to help you enjoy life more?

daily question for more joy What would you love to do today

What would you love to do today?

How often do you ask yourself:

What would I love to do today?

For many of us, it may seem like a pointless question – irrelevant because we can’t see any way that we might actually be able to do it.

Modern life can be so hectic and demanding, with precious little time to indulge our casual whims and fancies.

Perhaps we’re far too busy doing all the Must Dos to have any time left for any pleasant-but-not-essential activities.

Or maybe we feel that the things we’d love to do might be nice, but they wouldn’t help us make the progress we’re seeking in our life or work.

Or it may even be that we feel it’s too indulgent to do things just for sheer pleasure, especially when there are people clamouring for our energy, attention and time.

There are many reasons why we neglect this question.

And as valid as these reasons may be – even if it really would be impossible to do what we’d love – I believe there is still value in asking ourselves this question on a regular basis.

Because it prompts us to take a moment’s pause from the busyness of life and pay attention to our deepest wishes and desires, to get in touch with the essence of our heart and soul.

And this tuning in, this mindful connection, is not only good for us  – it’s also a creative force.

Contemplating our desires is a way to access our innate creative power.

Even when we do this without expectation, our imagination is sparked into action, and our marvellous minds will then go to work behind the scenes, seeking ways to include more of these happy moments in our everyday lives, somehow…

All we need to do is ask the question!

But how often do we give any thought to what we’d truly love to do?

It takes just seconds to consider, yet it’s an enquiry that can reveal vital clues about our true selves – those magnificent versions of us that are often dormant in the face of life’s demands.

Asking this question is one way to discover those inklings, those yearnings and longings within us that are calling to be expressed.

These are the whispers of inspiration that are trying to reach us.

They’re not there by accident.

They have a reason, a purpose.

They can guide us in unimaginable and wonderful ways.

They could even be the signposts to the unique and brilliant work that we are here on this planet to do, as suggested by this quote from Tama J Kieves in her inspiring book, This Time I Dance;

A Daily Question for creativity, inspiration & meaning

So, in the interests of discovering your greatest self, as well as enlivening the creative forces within you, I invite you to make a habit of asking yourself:

What would I love to do today?

What feels exciting?

What feels inspired?

You don’t need to do it.

You don’t need to know how to do it, or if it’s even possible.

You just need to listen to the whispers, to feel the nudges, to make space for the voice of your innermost callings.

After all, how can we create the kind of life we want to live if we never give any consideration to what we actually want?

Regularly asking this question is a way to build that muscle, to reconnect with our delights and inclinations, to open to inspired guidance, and awaken our creative spirit – with no agenda other than to just think about what would be lovely.

And as a bonus side-effect, giving some attention to our desires can lead to a level of contentment that can help us perform better, enjoy more health and even feel kinder and more patient towards those around us.

So, for your health, your productivity and your loved ones – feel free to give some thought to this idea, as often as you like.

Then be prepared for the delightful and surprising ways those ‘impossible’ pleasures begin to appear in your life…

And how they guide you where you really want to go.
