Hello September!

Leaves are falling from the cherry tree in my garden.

The summer is still blazing its last hurrah, but there is a distinct chill in the air.

Talk is turning from holiday fun to Back To School prep and planning.

September.

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved the fresh start energy of this time of year.

Other children may have revelled in the long, lazy weeks of summer holidays, but my favourite was the moment in late August when my local Woolworths would begin displaying Back To School posters.

The promise of smart new uniforms, a lovely new pencil case and – joy of joys – a beautiful new school bag, the essential and delightful supplies for a new school year.

All was shiny and new and filled with potential.

An opportunity for a fresh start, a clean slate.

A chance to be a new version of me, a time for a new level of progress and achievement.

I adored the promise of September and its Late Summer Reboot vibe.

I loved it as a child and I love it even more as a grown up.
